Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts (ACMA), a project of the Attakkalari Public Charitable Trust of Contemporary Performing Arts, strives to make performing arts accessible to everyone, irrespective of their background. The Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts is a leading contemporary dance institution in India with an impeccable track record in imparting world-class education in Contemporary Dance and allied subjects including classical dance forms, stage technologies, art history, dance pedagogy and choreography.
The Attakkalari Silver Jubilee Dance Scholarship marks 25 years of Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts by supporting the future of dance and somatic practices in India by investing in the next generation of movement artists. Awarded to 25 talented students enrolled in the Attakkalari Diploma in Movement Arts and Pedagogy, the scholarship affirms Attakkalari’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent through equitable access to world-class training in contemporary dance. The scholarship recognises dedication, talent, potential, and perseverance, the grounding for a future-forward practice. This programme aims to provide meaningful financial support to meritorious recipients, enabling them to engage fully with the programme’s rigorous, transdisciplinary curriculum and grow within one of India’s foremost institutions for Contemporary movement arts.
The Attakkalari Diploma in Movement Arts and Pedagogy is aimed at young people who are passionate and committed to studying contemporary dance in a professional and academic setting with opportunities for gaining work experience through an apprenticeship programme. With expert faculty, transdisciplinary modules, and performance opportunities, the diploma equips students with the skills needed for professional careers in performance and teaching. The programme is ideal for those seeking innovative, practice-led training in a vibrant, supportive environment.
Entry into the programme is granted based on audition, application and interview. Aspiring dancers who are 16 years or above with a Plus 2 certificate or equivalent qualification are eligible to apply.
Number of scholarships available: This year, the Attakkalari Silver Jubilee Dance Scholarship 2025 will be awarded to 25 eligible candidates from India who are offered admission to the Attakkalari Diploma in Movement Arts and Pedagogy through a selection process.
Scope: The Attakkalari Silver Jubilee Dance Scholarship programme will support 25 students through a tiered funding structure, recognising a range of strengths and potential among applicants.
TWO students will receive the Outstanding Scholarship, each awarded ₹75,000. The Excellence Scholarship will be granted to FOUR students, with each recipient receiving ₹50,000. The Merit Scholarship will support FIVE students with ₹40,000 each. SIX students will benefit from the Encouragement Scholarship, each receiving ₹35,000 to further their training. Finally, the Promise Scholarship will award ₹30,000 each to EIGHT students identified for their emerging potential and dedication.
Eligibility:
1. Candidates must be an Indian citizen currently residing in India.
2. Candidates must have successfully cleared the audition for the Attakkalari Diploma in Movement Arts and Pedagogy.
3. Candidates must have completed the enrollment process into the Diploma programme.
Last date for application: 31st July 2025, 5:00 PM.
Scholarships will be allotted weekly based on the applications received.
